"Behind Orsa wines is Martin Bernal-Hafner, an incredible and passionate winemaker. His wines are reflective of the beautiful 160-acre mountain property where they grow their fruit in a holistic manner. I'm a huge fan of their rose (even though I never like rose!) as well as their Cabernet Sauvignon. Highly recommend!"
"Delicious, high-elevation wines that show the range of California finesse. Incredibly easy to drink."
"Having tried Topel’s wines in the past, I was excited to give Orsa & Alta Orsa wines a try after discovering them and realizing the winemaker is the same. This discovery is really one of the major benefits of Vinebase, which connects you to smaller producers in ways you may not otherwise discover on your own. To start, I ordered the 2017 “Orsa” Cabernet Sauvignon and 2020 “Orsa” Rosé Pinot Noir. At least on the East Coast, I haven’t seen many Pinot Noir Rosé wines so I was particularly excited about this one. The wines promptly arrived after my order with a really nice handwritten note from the winemaker, Martin (ps: I definitely need to visit sometime!). While not the most complex wines, they have some “rare” descriptors that I really appreciate seeing in fine wines, and are an excellent value for the price point. These wines pair well with a great steak or simply a Tuesday night. The Cabernet Sauvignon had notes of Black Cherry, Cola, and Chocolate. Would recommend pairing with steak (or chocolate later in the night). The Rosé had bright acidity, with notes of Candied Strawberry and Grapefruit. Would recommend pairing with spicy Thai food. I hope you too will give this small producer a try. The wines won’t disappoint and I look forward to trying more in the future!
