The Diamond Mountain District is located in northwestern Napa Valley in the Mayacamas Mountains. Located 1750 feet above The Valley floor, the steep slopes of SummitVine Ranch allowed us only 6 of the meager 550 acres planted to vines in this highly revered AVA. With our porous volcanic soils and high-elevation climate, our vines produce distinctive earthy flavors, wrapped around rich, opulent and beautifully integrated tannins.

What's cool?

Rare Varietal

Not rare, per se, but it is rare to have a Merlot-based blend from Napa Valley, especially from a mountain vineyard.

Interesting Winemaking Technique

Instead of blending the different varietals prior to bottling, we co-ferment all three varietals together. They stay together from then to bottling.

Notable Viticulture Technique

Merlot is a very vigorous vine and only with constant canopy work can you make sure you get the wonderful Merlot flavors into a wine.

Uncommon Region

Diamond Mountain is the smallest AVA in Napa with only 550 acres planted to vines. SummitVine Ranch has only 6 of those.
