Our first Syrah release from the famed Broken Leg Vineyard - thanks D&G ;) - is a beautiful expression of blueberries and other black fruits, coupled with a streak of minerals and bacon lard. Much like a young Crozes-Hermitage or Saint-Joseph, this Syrah is like a young kid who needs Ritalin.... It needs to calm down. Zing!!!! But... lol... it doesn't mean you can't drink it now. It's beautiful with a rack of lamb or just a damn good cheeseburger. If you do happen to cellar this beauty, it shall go for a good 10-15 years and can be the ringer for a blind tasting of some aged Rhones to impress your somm friends. No matter what, we recommend a silly straw for liquid excavation. :)
Bacon, Blue Cheese Hamburger, Lamb
Black Pepper, Blueberry Pie, Iron, Wild Berry, Salinity
The only place in Anderson Valley (not counting the Mendocino Ridges) where Syrah grows. A remote, gorgeous, and frighteningly steep vineyard site that was truly a work of passion from the late grower Steve Williams who planted this vineyard in 1979. The vineyard gets its name from Steve who unfortunately broke his leg in the process of planting the vineyard.
